Cross-university discussions and system thinking

We are not only a nature lovers' hotel and a very good restaurant, but we are also and passionately a scientific meeting point - a place where universities can meet to discuss important social issues in an interdisciplinary context; a place where knowledge of various universities flows together and where future is made; a place where there is room for lively discussions and where sometimes heads start spinning.
At the moment we are getting reading for this year's Trifels Summer School in the first week of September. It is organised this year by Koblenz-Landau University and the subject is "Global Challenges and Systems Thinking" - we have got plenty of global challenges at present, and "systems thinking" means about the opposite of "tunnel vision" - an open approach to problems considering global impacts and solutions.

Highlight of the Summer School is like every year the "Trifelser Gespräch" (Trifels Talk) which is a public panel discussion about the highly controversic topic "Fridays for Future". Every one interested ist welcome, no need to book a place, just drop in, and it's free of charge!

The Summer School will be hold entirely in English, the panel discussion in German.

Safe the date: Thursday, 5 September 2019 at 7.30 pm at Kurhaus Trifels!

Here are some impressions of the Trifelser Gespräch panel discussions of the past years:

Trifelser Gespräch 2018 about the topic "Work 4.0" - an interesting topic about current changes on the employment market. TV moderator Holger Wienpahl moderated the diskussion between the speakers: State secretary Daniela Schmitt, Prof. Dr. Poetzsch-Heffter from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Prof. Dr. Dengel from Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz in Kaiserslautern, Prof. Dr. Pickel from John Deere European Technology Innovation Center, Ms Delia Schröder from Institut für Technologie und Arbeit e.V., Mr Peter Weißler from Agentur für Arbeit Kaiserslautern-Pirmasens and Mr Werner Weiß from Insiders Technologies GmbH.The audience took lively part in the discussion by asking questions and bringing in suggestions.

Trifelser Gespräch 2017 to the topic "Future-oriented mobility between city and countryside" - a fascinating topic that concerns us all as well as our planet's future. Our guests: Prof. Dr. Konrad Wolf, Science Minister of Rheinland-Pfalz, Dr. Tibor Müller from IHK Pfalz, Dr. Ing. Karl-Friedrich Ziegahn and Prof. Dr. Ing. Peter Vortisch from Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, as well as Dr. habil. Mario Trapp from Fraunhofer Institut für Experimentelles Software Engineering (IESE). Mr Markus Appelmann from the TV channel SAT1 moderated the lively discussion brilliantly.
